The Master Model format separates the concept of "range of motion" from "animation." This powerful technique allows the author of 3D content to correctly capture what a product can do, but lets the producer of video content decide what the product will do. This makes video production using vSpace Server: Video Clip Composer much easier than video production using a traditional 3D authoring system. Instead of slogging through f-curves, the user simply puts key frames onto tracks and slides them around to adjust timing. The interface even supports auto-keying from the 3D view, allowing novice users to get up and running in no time.

As with Still Image Composer, the user interface for Video Clip Composer is an ordinary web browser. A lightweight web version of the model is used during authoring, while the full-fidelity model is rendered when the job is submitted. The user can choose dimensions (up to HDTV), frame rate, background (including alpha transparency for subsequent compositing in a program like After Effects), and video format (uncompressed Quicktime MOV or PNG frames, RealVideo compressed formats at various bandwidths, or animated GIF). The video is rendered with an appropriate level of anti-aliasing for the video compressor used, and long videos are automatically divided up among the vSpace Server computing grid.

Video can then be used directly on a web site or PowerPoint, or can be pulled into After Effects, Premier, or Flash for further production. Because making video is now so easy, Kaon's customers are using it in many applications where they've never before considered using video.
