vSpace Server takes Master Models off the desktop of the design, engineering, or creative department and into the rest of the enterprise. Using a simplified web-based user interface, anyone with PowerPoint-level skills can quickly create custom still images and video clips from Master Models. Power users can create enterprise-class web product tours, including custom look and feel, 3D hotspots, complex scripting, and internationalized content.
Kaon Interactive uses vSpace Server internally for all creative content development, from interactive 3D, to Flash and video production. vSpace Server is also the platform on which the Kaon Advisor and 3D Catalog solutions are built.
vSpace Server acts as a central repository for all your Master Models. Users can easily browse thumbnails of models, or vSpace Server can be integrated with an existing DAM or PLM system in your business. Once a model is selected, the user chooses one of three main modules to use for content creation: Still Image Composer, Video Clip Composer, or Product Tour Composer.
These modules are all lightweight Java 1.1-compatible applets which run right in the user's web browser. No special hardware or software is required on the client machine. The server automatically generates a lightweight representation of the Master Model, allowing it to fit in a 64MB footprint, no matter how complex the original model.
When the content is ready to be rendered, it goes back to the server for processing. The Distributed Job Engine manages an arbitrarily large computing grid (from one to dozens of computers), dividing up large jobs among worker machines, prioritizing work from different groups within the enterprise, and automatically recovering from distributed hardware failures. When the content is ready, an email is sent to the user, and they can download at their leisure.
